COMMON QUESTIONS

Let's clear a few things up.

From your first word to your longest streak, here's how Feetle Game works.

How do I play Feetle Game?

Start with the word on the board and change one letter at a time until you reach FEET. Every step must be a real four-letter word in our dictionary. Type your next word and press Enter. The fewer steps, the better.

When does the daily ladder change?

A new ladder arrives at 08:00 UTC every day. Everyone gets the same starting word, wherever they play. The countdown under the keyboard shows how long is left.

What does par mean?

Par is the fewest possible one-letter changes from the starting word to FEET, using this game’s dictionary. The starting word is not a step. Finish in par for zero extra steps; longer valid routes still count as a win.

Can I play more than once a day?

Yes. Unlimited mode gives you a fresh random ladder whenever you want. It uses the same rules and dictionary, but practice games do not change your daily streak or statistics.

Where are my progress and statistics saved?

They stay in local storage in this browser, on this device. There is no account and no result upload. Clearing site data, switching browsers or using a different device means starting with separate records.

Why wasn’t my word accepted?

A word must have exactly four letters, differ from the previous word in exactly one position, and appear in our fixed dictionary. The dictionary is based on American English, with proper names, abbreviations and some unsuitable entries excluded. Not every word used in every dictionary is included.

Can I take back a submitted word?

Backspace edits only the word you are currently typing. Submitted words stay on the board. You can return to a previous word by making a valid one-letter change, but that is another step.

Is there a limit on guesses?

No. You can take as many valid steps as you need. Invalid submissions do not count as steps. There is no timer for an individual move, although the daily puzzle changes at the next reset.

Can I see yesterday’s answer?

The Answers page lists finished daily puzzles and offers hints before revealing a shortest route. Today’s active puzzle is not listed. This is a new, independent game, so our archive begins with our own first puzzle.

Why is my route different from the answer?

A puzzle can have several shortest routes. The archive shows one of them. Any valid route with the same number of steps is just as good, and the game accepts all valid routes to FEET.

How does the streak work?

Solve on consecutive puzzle days to grow your streak. It stays available during the current day if you solved yesterday; missing a whole puzzle day breaks it. Unlimited rounds do not count.

Is this the original Feetle website?

No. Feetle Game at feetlegame.com is an independent word-ladder game with its own daily schedule, dictionary and implementation. It is not affiliated with feetle.fun or Poople.
